I was overwhelmed too! But our family has found so much healing by using the GAPS diet to fix the gut that I knew I had to help others who wanted to embark on their own GAPS Diet journey.
I made this guidebook to walk you through your first 30 days on the GAPS Introduction Diet in a simple straightforward manner. I wish I could come give you personal encouragement and cook for each and every one of you, but this is the next best thing.
Everything that you need to get started on the GAPS Intro Diet is included.
Sections of this GAPS Intro Ebook include necessities such as:
Hi! I'm Cara Comini, a busy mom of three awesome kiddos here in Montana. I've been where you are... In late 2009 I had an infant, a toddler who was strongly showing signs of autism, and I was snatching sleep in 2 hour increments between their needs, attempting to stay on a really tight budget, researching and implementing autism recorvery, and trying to keep the house clean all at once.
I knew I had to start helping my daughter, and the GAPS diet looked like the most likely way to accomplish that. But it was so overwhelming to figure it all out! I read the GAPS book and plunged in, and I'll admit our diet was repetitive, but it worked. The GAPS intro improved my daughter's sleep right away, took away my dairy allergy in mere weeks, and healed my son's eczema.
I started What Can I Eat Now? just as notes to myself, on what to include on the intro so I could make sure we were doing it right. I knew I wanted to turn it into a full e-book to share once I got on top of GAPS and was out of 'survival mode'.
I remember standing next to the stove on 70s gold linoleum in our small apartment, with a baby crawling at my feet and toddler repeatedly opening and closing the pantry door, thinking that I really wish someone could just tell me what to cook the next day on intro so I wouldn't have to scour the GAPS book and Yahoo group that night trying to figure it out. I vowed then that if we made it through GAPS, I would try to help other families have an easier start than I did. That's how What Can I Eat Now? 30 Days on the GAPS Intro Diet came to be!

Hello Cara, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the GAPS Intro e-book! Today is day 13 for my sons and me (2 1/2 and 7yo) and I think we are turning the corner for the better with my 7 year old, who is on the autism spectrum. Your e-book is exactly what I have needed for preparation, encouragement, hope, options, helpful hints, etc. It is an answer to my prayers.
I am getting ready to start Intro Gaps next week and I have been busily reading and preparing for weeks but still felt some confusion. I just ordered your intro e-book and it's great! It's wonderful to have the information laid out so clearly, I think it will help a great deal with a smooth(ish) transition. I want to thank you for your work and for making it available to the the rest of us. Best, Ginger
Tried doing the diet with just the GAPS book. The first week, we ate the same thing everyday for 7 days! I tried to introduce some of the next stage foods for him, but found that I didn't understand how to do it. So now we are here on day 6 with your ebook! It's much easier to follow the diet with the day to day instructions. Lisa
I have the utmost respect for you and your organization/energy & ability to be able to document, create and market your experience - all while caring for your young children in such a time/energy intensive way. I have not had time for anything other than managing withdrawal and all it takes to prepare food - but I now see it will probably get a lot better. I am viewing this as an investment into the future of my boys and to quit last week when it was SO HARD would have been a long term loss.
Thank you, Sandy
